Like many of you, we have been closely monitoring the situation with COVID-19. The health and safety of our members and the community at large is our primary concern. For this reason, we have made the difficult decision to cancel the upcoming 2020 Spring Seminar.

Geoff Bitner: MnDOT Plat Standards & 2022 MN Coordinate System Plans

Geoff Bitner is a licensed Land Surveyor with the Minnesota Department of Transportation.  He has more than 20 years of experience in various surveying positions including right of way mapping, platting, and geodetics. Mr. Bitner holds a BS from Salisbury University and a MS from the University of Minnesota.


Dave Zenk: Using the NCAT Coordinate Conversion Tool

David Zenk is a Geodesist with the National Geodetic Survey, serving as Regional Geodetic Advisor for the Northern Plains Region (MN, ND, SD, IA, NE). He holds Bachelor of Science Degrees in Civil Engineering and Mechanical Engineering from the University of Minnesota and a Master’s Degree in Land Surveying from Oregon State University. He has served as adjunct faculty at the University of Minnesota Geography Department and at Saint Cloud State University Geography Department. He is a past Chair of the Minnesota GIS/LIS Consortium. He is currently serving as Editor of the MSPS “Minnesota Surveyor” magazine. He is licensed as a Registered Land Surveyor and Professional Engineer in the State of Minnesota.


Chris Mavis: Modernizing the Hennepin County Coordinate System

Chris Mavis currently serves as the Hennepin County Surveyor. Chris’ land surveying career began in 1990 at Widseth Smith Nolting in Brainerd, MN. He has also held surveying and spatial data management positions at Washington County, the City of Inver Grove Heights, Short Elliott Hendrickson and Esri. He earned his B.E.S Degree in Geography from St Cloud State University, with additional land surveying coursework at Inver Hills Community College.

Mr. Mavis is a current member of MSPS and is involved with the MSPS Events Committee. He is also a member and past president of Capitol Area Land Surveyors Association, is a member of the MnDOT Survey Technical Workshop planning committee, and serves on a variety of Hennepin County Committees.

Audio/Video Policy: Registration and attendance at, or participation at association events, constitutes an agreement by the registrant to association’s use and distribution of the registrant or attendee’s image or voice in photographs, videotapes, electronic reproductions and audiotapes of such events and activities.

Cancellation Policy: Cancellations received by the MSPS office at least 14 business days prior to the event are eligible for a refund of the registration fee, less a $25 processing fee. No refunds will be provided for cancellations received fewer than 14 days prior to the event. No-shows will be billed for any unpaid registration fees.
