Join the Minnesota Society of Professional Surveyors

We invite you to consider becoming a member of our organization! The Minnesota Society of Professional Surveyors has been working to provide accurate land and boundary information to property owners, builders and design professionals since 1953. Check out the benefits to membership here.


Options to Join:

  1. Choose the member type and complete the online application and pay with credit card or create an invoice. IMPORTANT: Membership will not be active until payment is received. If you choose the invoice option, you will need to pay in 45 days or your application will be removed from the database.

  2. Download the application form and send in payment – check, credit card or PO.

Individual Memberships

Licensed members: $270
Any person who is licensed as a Land Surveyor pursuant to the laws of the State of Minnesota. LS Membership includes membership in the National Society of Professional Surveyors (NSPS).

Join as a licensed member

Associate members: $110
Any person who is Licensed and in good standing as Land Surveyor in any state of the United States other than Minnesota or in any province of Canada.

Training members: $100
Any person who has successfully passed the Fundamentals of Land Surveying Exam as issued by N.C.E.E.S. and are residents of Minnesota, Iowa, North Dakota, South Dakota and Wisconsin.

Technical members: $90
Any person who has an active interest in land surveying and not eligible for membership under other classifications.

Student members: FREE
Are those Members with an interest in land surveying who are enrolled part time or full time in a surveying or related degree program. To qualify you will need to provide current enrollment information with your name, the schools name, and enrollment date statue. Examples of these are: Transcripts, semester schedules, admissions office letter (on official letter head), current student ID. Life members:
Are those Members who were a LICENSED MEMBER, and who have attained 62 years of age and have retired from active practice as land surveyors, and who have paid their dues as a LICENSED MEMBER for the year in which they attained age 62, or retired, whichever is later, and for each of the nine (9) years preceding. Life Members shall have the right to vote.

Honorary members:
Those members who have attained unusual professional recognition by their contribution to the profession of land surveying.

Retired members:
Are those Members who were either a TRAINING MEMBER or a TECHNICAL MEMBER, and who have attained 62 years of age and have retired from the surveying practice, and who have paid their dues for the year which they attained age 62, or retired, whichever is later, and for each of the preceding nine (9) years.

This membership will allow a non-member sponsor, prospect or research buyer to register with the MSPS site to sign up for events. This will not register you for any MSPS member benefits.

Organizational Memberships

Firm members:
Any firm who has Licensed Members who are actively engaged as consultants in the field of land surveying in Minnesota. The number of personnel is the total average of all personnel, including principals, licensed surveyors, designers, drafters, technicians, clerical and other employees (excluding part-time or second employees) on the firm’s payroll for the past calendar year. In the case of Land Surveying-Engineering firms, the prorated portion of personnel concerned with, or in general support of the surveying function should be counted.

Sustaining members: $400
Any individual, partnership, or corporation engaged in the manufacture or distribution of surveying instruments and/or equipment, or in the compilation and/or reproduction of maps, or in the performance of services for land surveyors.

Membership period: Anniversary (one year from joining)

All applications received will be reviewed and approved by the MSPS board of directors at their next meeting.

Member rates for an event:

To receive member rates for an event(s), you must join first and then register for the event(s). These will be two separate transactions. Organizational membership-when joining as an organizational member you will need to complete you membership process and make payment. Once your membership is active you will then need to sign back in and go to sub-accounts in the profile to add your contacts.
